About Us

Gare Du Nord Theatre was founded in 2016 by Geoff and Paola, after a chance meeting via a local amateur dramatic club and a shared interest in exciting, immersive productions. The name of the company derives from our first production – the Manchester Fringe award-winning ‘The Suitcase, the Beggar and the Wind’, a French inspired play set in a train station. Having toured our original show throughout 2017 , we won critical acclaim in 2019 featuring in three of the most prominent fringe festivals and marking our Edinburgh Fringe debut. We then went on to present ‘Underwater: A show in the dark’, dealing with themes of an environmental apocalypse in a comical, but serious address. That same year saw the launchpad of the unlikely duo Liam Gallagher and Emmeline Pankhurst, as they teamed up to take visitors on a guided comical walk around Manchester featuring numerous historic figures along the way.

Paola left the UK, in a move to Madrid, whilst Geoff continued with The Red Hat Poetry Evening. Planned as a walkthrough production, set in a local bed and breakfast in Marple, the works of K.C. Dowling were being brought to life in an exciting new retelling. Sadly rehearsals were abruptly stopped in early 2020, due to the pandemic.

After a break of over four years, Gare Du Nord Theatre returned to rehearsals in 2024 featuring regular performers from our first productions and some friendly new faces too.

2025 promises to be our most ambitious year yet, with the world premier of ‘Railway 200 : The Show’. Celebrating this once in a lifetime bicentenary, we look back at our proud railway history, told in a comical, educational and entertaining way. Featuring a nationwide tour and supported by Avanti West Coast, our strong team of 11 cast and crew bring you an unforgettable 75mins of storytelling, original music and nostalgia.

Our aim for our audiences is the same now as it as always been: to present site specific and immersive performances at a low or free cost. We hope you can join us for the ride.
